THE VALTENESI

THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF HISTORY BETWEEN LAKE AND WINE

The Valtènesi region lies in the middle of the morainic amphitheater west of Lake Garda, to be admired by  visitors, in a charming area formed by a series of concentric mounds arranged in a semicircle, from the multi-shaped terraces gently sloping up to the body of water.
The origins are essentially fluvio-glacial moraine hills and include the external and internal wOrmian (the last great glaciation). The WOrm is therefore the young amphitheater, with fresh materials, gravel and no major surface alterations.
There is archaeological evidence that the human presence on the Brescia benacense coast dates back to the Bronze Age, and one of the two names of the lake takes after the Etruscans; Benaco, in fact, derives from the word Beni-Aco, that is, sons of the Etruria Prince Aco.
Moreover, this is a particular area where the vine finds its natural setting for its mild climate, for the good structure and exposure of most of the land.
The Scolari Winery is located in the heart of this land, in the hamlet of Puegnago Raffa and it is here that it loves receiving its hosts for a taste of wine. Founded in 1929, thanks to Pietro Scolari, it continues its tradition of wine now in its third generation more and more developing and improving the DOC quality grown in the area.
